Transurban and Future Trends

Why would you recommend Transurban when driverless cars and ride sharing is very likely to decimate vehicle numbers over the next decade?

Twenty something’s who live mostly live around the inner city with great public transport will never buy a car and retirees will not want a 2nd car. And it’s odds on that the rest of us will dump our 2nd car. Driverless cars will pick up 4 people at a time where routes are similar and so will be very cheap. I’m 55 and can easily see myself using it . Even if car sales are maintained, individual car trips per person will clearly drop and reduce toll road turnover.

A: Thanks for the comments.

You might well prove to be right.

My two bob’s worth is that driverless cars will lead to a massive capacity increase for toll roads – so that they won’t need to add lanes/build infrastructure  to increase the number of trips.
