BetaShares UMAX – S&P 500 Yield Maximiser Fund‎

About a year ago I purchased a number of units in Betashares S&P 500 Yield Maximiser ETF (UMAX) to give my SMSF extra global exposure. This fund has a management charge of 0.79%, which in hindsight seems a bit high. It was only yesterday that I looked at the portfolio holdings which appears to consist of approximately 80% iShares Core S&P 500 ETF with the remainder in US dollars.

This appears to be iShares ticker code IVV, which has a management charge of 0.04%. Would you be able to tell me I am correct and if so, should I sell UMAX and buy IVV?

What are your recommended global stocks?

This week Charlie wrote about exposure to Global markets and how he’s going to make a case for Berkshire Hathaway, a stock I couldn’t afford. I’ve previously thought about gaining direct exposure to US stocks but seems like a bit of a hassle. What’s some of the best ETF/LICs that a small player could use to start gaining exposure to global stocks?

TraCRs available on the CHI-X exchange

I’ve just been reading about TraCRs available on the CHI-X exchange. I hadn’t heard of them before. A google search brought up an article a couple of years old predicting they would be a game-changer for SMSFs, a prediction like many unrealised? Any thoughts on them compared to direct investment in US shares? How does Deutsch benefit from these products? How is it making a return?
