Question: NGE Capital (NGE) – what are your thoughts on these shares? I am thinking of buying some for our SMSF.

Answer (By Paul Rickard): Thanks for the question on NGE Capital. Performance in calendar 2017 has been outstanding, but:

  • a very small LIC – market capitalisation around $13m;
  • trading at a very big discount to NTA – approx. 27% on 31 August;
  • 3 substantial shareholders.

Invest carefully.

Question: Could I get your views on the PM Capital Global Opportunities Fund, PGF. It appears to me the return for the last 12 months has been very good, however share price is below NTA

Answer (By Paul Rickard): Thanks for the question. Yes, PM Capital Global Opportunities Fund (PGF) is a very solid listed investment company. Paul Moore, the CIO of PM Capital is a stock picker – and his performance (over many years) has been strong. The shares are trading at a discount to NTA. Arguably, this creates opportunities for buyers.
