Retiring

I was hoping to retire at some stage.

If I were to take leave and finish end of July in a financial year (being on leave but being paid for 40 hours of work in the 30 days of July) does that count as work, or is it excluded because it is holiday pay and not work pay? Thanks in advance.

A: This is a complex matter. I suspect it isn’t gainful employment because I suspect a lump sum will be paid and there is no job at the end of it.

It may be best to get some legal advice.
