Retirement and Conditions of Release

Further to Gary Chau’s article on APRA guidance on retirement, I am aged 54 (preservation age 59) and am now officially retired from paid employment (living off investments outside super).

When I reach my preservation age in 5 years time, will I meet the Limb 1 retirement condition of release, or do I need to find another job at the time and then “retire” again to meet the condition?

Might be a silly question, however there seems to be no time limit specified between someone formally ceasing work and accessing super.

A: Not a silly question, but as long as your employment intentions don’t change, you will still be officially retired.

Regards
