I have an SMSF and a financial advisor for an annual fee, deducted monthly from the SMSF. I am considering breaking away from the arrangement. As I am not an accountant, how would I go about finding an accounting firm experienced in looking after the legalities?
A: Most accountants can probably help.
I would ask any potential accountant a couple of key questions:
a) how many SMSF funds do they administer/account for;
b) are they a registered SMFS Auditor with ASIC;
c) are they affiliated with a financial planning firm/administrator/ other third party
d) what are they going to charge?
e) what software/system do they use to administer SMSFs
