Vita Group first half net profit has almost tripled as it benefitted from Telstra’s strong performance in the mobile market.

Vita operates 96 Telstra-branded stores, as well as a number of Fone Zone, Next Byte and One Zero stores around Australia.

The company said Telstra’s dominance in the mobile market led to net profit for the six months to December 31 rising 189 per cent to $2.7 million, compared with the prior corresponding period.

Investors cheered the result, with Vita up 11.5 cents, or 23.96 per cent, at 59.5 cents at 1136 AEDT.

Vita chief executive Maxine Horne said the company’s core markets remained buoyant and relatively resilient to any softening in consumer sentiment.

“We are benefitting from the Telstra 4G advantage,” Ms Horne said during Vita’s results presentation on Thursday.

The company declared a fully franked interim dividend of 1.15 cents per share.
