US stocks have slipped in opening trade on Friday amid mixed economic indicators showing a petrol-driven pickup in inflation in February and a slowdown in industrial activity in the New York region.
Five minutes into trade, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 39.15 points (0.27 per cent) to 14,499.99.
The broad-based S&P 500 lost 3.95 (0.25 per cent) to 1,559.28, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite slipped 1.58 (0.05 per cent) to 3,257.35.
