US stocks have opened higher with biotechnology and other stocks heavily sold last week showing a rebound.

Five minutes into trade, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 121.37 points, or 0.74 per cent, to 16,444.43.

The broad-based S&P 500 added 12.80, or 0.69 per cent, at 1,870.42, while the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite gained 34.73, or 0.84 per cent, to 4,190.49.
