Engineering company UGL has won a $110 million three-year contract for maintenance at the Hazelwood power plant east of Melbourne.

Under the deal, UGL will perform outage planning and major outage maintenance works on boilers, turbines and generators at the Hazelwood power station, a brown coal fired power station east of Melbourne that supplies up to 25 per cent of Victoria’s energy needs.

Two one-year options could extend the contract with Hazelwood’s owners GDF SUEZ to five years, UGL said in a statement on Friday.
