More travellers using Sydney Airport

The number of passengers using Sydney Airport has continued to grow, thanks to Chinese New Year celebrations and more locals travelling abroad.

Passenger numbers in February were up 2.5 per cent from a year earlier, to 2.92 million.

The number of international passengers going through the airport was up 6.2 per cent, with strong growth in travellers from China and India, due to Lunar New Year holidays and new flights direct to Delhi.

Australian outbound passenger numbers rose 5.2 per cent with the most popular destinations being Malaysia, Fiji, Singapore and New Zealand.

Domestic passenger numbers were up by 0.8 per cent.
