A subsidiary of construction giant Leighton has been awarded a lead role worth $650 million in the construction of a new rail line in Brisbane’s north.

Thiess will be part of the Trackstar team building the Moreton Bay rail link, a 12.6 kilometre line connecting suburbs in the Moreton Bay region to the existing rail line in Brisbane’s north.

Aurecon, AECOM and geotechnical subcontractor Golder Associates are also involved.

The rail line, funded by the federal and Queensland governments, is scheduled to be operational by June 2016.
