NCM – NEWCREST MINING – down 23 cents, or 1.7 per cent, at $13.44

Newcrest Mining shut down its massive Lihir gold mine for 36 hours at the weekend because of a dispute with a small group of Papua New Guinean locals.

NEC – NINE ENTERTAINMENT – down 32 cents, or 16.1 per cent, at $1.665

SWM – SEVEN WEST MEDIA – down 13.5 cents, or 11.4 per cent, at $1.05

TEN – TEN NETWORK – up 0.5 cents, or 2.1 per cent, at 24.5 cents

FXJ – FAIRFAX MEDIA – down two cents, or 2.1 per cent, at 93 cents

NWS – NEWS CORP – down 15 cents, or 0.8 per cent, at $18.90

Nine Entertainment’s massive earnings downgrade has dented the market value of several major media companies, despite a reassurance from rival Seven about its profit forecast.

REC – RECALL HOLDINGS – up 22 cents, or 3.1 per cent, at $7.24

Recall Holdings has signed off on a sweetened $A3.4 billion takeover deal from US-based Iron Mountain.

S32 – SOUTH 32 – down five cents, or 2.3 per cent, at $2.09

BHP Billiton spin-off South32 is set to write down the value of its manganese business in the company’s first major setback.
