Stocks to watch on the Australian stock exchange on Wednesday, Nov 5:

HVN – HARVEY NORMAN – up two cents, or 0.5 per cent, at $3.74

JBH – JB HI-FI – up 12 cents, or 0.8 per cent, at $15.41

MYR – MYER – up 3.5 cents, or 1.9 per cent, at $1.91

September retail spending figures show a strong rise from August, with shoppers spending $23.6 billion in the month – a 1.2 per cent rise.

OSH – OIL SEARCH – up five cents, or 0.6 per cent, at $8.68

STO – SANTOS – up eight cents, or 0.6 per cent, at $12.79

WPL – WOODSIDE PETROLEUM – down two cents, or 0.05 per cent, at $40.42

Local energy stocks are mixed after oil prices plunged overnight in response to reports that Saudi Arabia was slashing its export prices for the US market while hiking them for Asia.

NVT – NAVITAS – down three cents, or 0.6 per cent, at $5.27

Education provider Navitas has reaffirmed its full year guidance of a rise in underlying earnings.

WOW – WOOLWORTHS – down 94 cents, or 2.75 per cent, at $33.30

Shares in the supermarket giant continued to fall after Woolworths’ quarterly sales figures failed to meet market expectations.
