Stocks to watch on the Australian stock exchange early on Wednesday:

CBA – COMMONWEALTH BANK OF AUSTRALIA – up 36 cents at $49.68

Commonwealth Bank is warning its funding costs could rise as a result of economic uncertainty in Europe.

CSR – CSR LTD – closed at $2.36 on Tuesday

Building products manufacturer CSR releases its first half results on Wednesday.

MYR – MYER HOLDINGS LTD – closed at $2.33 on Tuesday

Myer releases its first quarter sales results on Wednesday.

NCM – NEWCREST MINING LTD – up 34 cents at $36.06

Newcrest Mining will borrow $US1 billion ($A966 million) in 10- and 30-year bonds to repay existing debt and fund some of the gold miner’s major projects.

QAN – QANTAS AIRWAYS LTD – up one cent at $1.62

It is too early to say if negotiations with Qantas have made any headway in the bitter, long-running dispute, says a Transport Workers’ Union (TWU) officer.

SPN – SP AUSNET – closed at 98 cents on Tuesday

Energy infrastructure company SP Ausnet releases its full year results on Wednesday.

WDC – WESTFIELD GROUP – up 13 cents at $7.85

Shopping centre owner Westfield Group says its business is in solid shape despite a mixed sales performance in the three months to September 30.
