Stocks of interest on the Australian Securities Exchange on Tuesday:

AVG – AUSTRALIAN VINTAGE – steady at 37.5 cents

Former InvoCare boss Richard Davis has been appointed chairman of one of the nation’s biggest winemakers, Australian Vintage.

MYR – MYER – down two cents, or 1.3 per cent, at $1.48

Myer has begun store closures as the retailer attempts to reverse its flagging fortunes.

SRX – SIRTEX – up $3.84, or 14.4 per cent, to $30.52

Sirtex shares have soared after the biomedical group received a positive response from oncology experts to its liver cancer treatment.

UGL – UGL – up 24 cents, or 10.3 per cent, to $2.56

UGL will axe 200 jobs within a month and has downgraded its full year guidance, capping off a tough 12 months for the engineering group.

VET – VOCATION – down 0.5 cents, or 3.7 per cent, to 13 cents
