Stocks to watch on the Australian stock exchange on Thursday, July 2:

AIO – ASCIANO – up $1.12, or 16.84 per cent, at $7.77

Ports and rail operator Asciano is in talks about a $8.8 billion takeover offer from a Canadian-based infrastructure group.

DLS – DRILLSEARCH – up 1.5 cents, or 1.45 per cent, at $1.05

Drillsearch shares are higher after the company flagged strong margins despite a slide in production.

KMD – KATHMANDU – down four cents, or 2.55 per cent, at $1.53

Kiwi retailer Briscoe has offered a cash and share takeover bid for Kathmandu.

MUA – MITULA – up five cents, or 6.67 per cent, at 80 cents

“Vertical search” website operator Mitula has started trading well, jumping within minutes.

ORG – ORIGIN – down five cents, or 0.42 per cent, at $11.92

The Clean Energy Finance Corporation has agreed to help energy company Origin drive an increase in the use of solar.

TGR – TASSAL GROUP – up 27 cents, or 8.11 per cent, at $3.60

Salmon farmer Tassal has finalised a deal to buy NSW seafood business De Costi.

WPL – WOODSIDE PETROLEUM – up 43 cents, or 1.26 per cent, at $34.66

Woodside Petroleum says it’s on track to make a final decision on its key Browse gas project at the end of 2016 as it pushes ahead with engineering and design work.
