Stocks to watch on the Australian stock exchange on Thursday, Dec 11:

AGL – AGL ENERGY – down 30 cents, or 2.3 per cent, at $12.91

AGL Energy will mothball half of its Torrens Island power station in Adelaide due to weak demand.

APA – APA GROUP – in a trading halt at $7.97

Energy infrastructure business APA Group will pay $US5 billion ($A5.41 billion) to buy the QCLNG pipeline in Queensland.

GFY – GODFREYS GROUP – up 10 cents, or 3.6 per cent, at $2.85

Investors in vacuum cleaner retailer Godfreys, and one of its early pioneers, have cleaned up in a strong debut on the stock market.

TEN – TEN NETWORK – down 0.5 cents, or 2.2 per cent, at 22 cents

A US investment firm run by the former head of Hollywood’s MGM studio, Harry Sloan, and former Sony Pictures boss Jeff Sagansky, is reportedly one of four bidders for the troubled Ten Network.

VET – VOCATION – down one cent, or 5.4 per cent, at 17.5 cents

Education and training group Vocation has lost another senior executive following the withdrawal of its Victorian government funding.
