AQA – AQUILA RESOURCES – up 22 cents, or seven per cent, at $3.35

MIN – MINERAL RESOURCES – down 20 cents, or 2.1 per cent, at $9.35

AZJ – AURIZON – down five cents, or one per cent, at $4.84

China’s Baosteel is in the box seat to secure a massive iron ore holding in Western Australia after Mineral Resources failed to take control of explorer Aquila Resources.

DJS – DAVID JONES – up two cents, or 0.5 per cent, at $3.90

South African retailer Woolworths has moved closer to seizing control of David Jones after its shareholders approved a $2.2 billion takeover of the department store chain.

NCM – NEWCREST MINING – up 18 cents, or 1.8 per cent, at $10.15

Gold miner Newcrest Mining has been fined $1.2 million in Australia’s largest ever penalty for selectively providing market sensitive information.

WES – WESFARMERS – down nine cents, or 0.2 per cent, at $41.26

Supermarket giant Coles is facing more than $3 million in fines after losing a court battle over the freshness of its bread.

WPL – WOODSIDE PETROLEUM – down $1.95, or 4.6 per cent, at $40.90

Shares in Woodside Petroleum are set to resume trading after Royal Dutch Shell completed a sell-down of more than 78 million shares in the oil and gas producer.
