Stocks to watch on the Australian stock exchange on Monday, July 6:

DLS – DRILLSEARCH – up one cent, or 0.9 per cent, at $1.075

Oil and gas producer Drillsearch Energy says chief executive Brad Lingo’s sudden departure is a necessary move as the company needs fresh ideas to move forward.

GEM – G8 EDUCATION – down seven cents, or 2.15 per cent, at $3.18

AFJ – AFFINITY EDUCATION GROUP – up 16 cents, or 29.6 per cent, at 70 cents

Australia’s largest commercial childcare operator G8 Education is making a $162 million bid for rival Affinity Education as it continues a rapid expansion.

QAN – QANTAS AIRWAYS – down seven cents, or 2.1 per cent, at $3.20

Qantas will give its workforce $90 million in bonuses following a dramatic turnaround in the airline’s fortunes.

HVN – HARVEY NORMAN – down nine cents, or 1.9 per cent, at $4.57

JBH – JB HI-FI – up three cents, or 0.15 per cent, at $19.84

MYR – MYER – down 1.5 cents, or 1.2 per cent, at $1.265

WES – WESFARMERS – down 21 cents, or 0.5 per cent, at $39.75

WOW – WOOLWORTHS – down 17 cents, or 0.6 per cent, at $27.63

Retail spending rose 0.3 per cent in May, short of economists’ expectations of a rise of 0.5 per cent, but an improvement on April’s 0.1 per cent slide.
