Stocks to watch on the Australian stock exchange on Monday, Feb 9:

ARI – ARRIUM – down 1.5 cents, or 6.7 per cent, at 21 cents

Arrium will sell its Wire Ropes business to Belgian company Bekaert for $90 million as the iron ore producer reduces debt amid weak iron ore prices.

AST – AUSNET – up 1.5 cents, or 1.05 per cent, at $1.445

On the eve of the sixth anniversary of Black Saturday, victims of the devastating Murrindindi bushfire have reached a $300 million settlement power group AusNet.

NWS – NEWS Corp – up 50 cents, or 2.6 per cent, at $19.75

News Corp’s second quarter earnings were flat as growth in its book publishing and online real estate businesses offset a further slide in revenue from its UK and Australian newspapers.

OFX – OZFOREX GROUP – down 13 cents, or 5.3 per cent, at $2.32

OzForex Group’s chief executive Neil Helm has stepped down after seven-and-a-half years in the role.

OSH – OIL SEARCH – up five cents, or 0.6 per cent, at $8.28

Oil Search has received an $807 million windfall after its PNG LNG project reached financial completion.

SLK – SEALINK – up 10 cents, or 4.4 per cent, at $2.37

Ferry and cruise operator SeaLink expects profit to continue to rise as fuel prices drop and overseas tourists are attracted by a falling Australian dollar.

VAH – VIRGIN AUSTRALIA HOLDINGS – up one cent, or 2.25 per cent, at 45.5 cents

Virgin Australia is once again making a profit after cutting costs, carrying more passengers and reaping the benefits of falling fuel prices.
