Western Australia’s work safety watchdog has lost an appeal against the dismissal of charges that Fortescue Metals Group failed to provide a safe workplace at a Pilbara rail camp during Cyclone George in 2007.
Separately: Leighton Holdings says it’s been in negotiations with Fortescue Metals Group for a $3.6 billion WA mining contract.

Separately: Pilots say they are disappointed a proposal to force airlines to offer overseas-based cabin crew the same pay and conditions as local staff has been rejected by a Senate inquiry.
