Stocks to watch at lunch

Stocks to watch on the Australian stock exchange at noon on Thursday:

ANZ – AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND BANKING GROUP – down 43 cents, or 1.25 per cent, at $34.04

Investors have sent ANZ’s share price tumbling despite the bank’s record half year cash profit of $3.5 billion.

CAB – CABCHARGE – down 1.5 cents, or 0.39 per cent, at $3.865

The founder, chairman and chief executive of taxi payments company Cabcharge, Reg Kermode, has died.

MGR – MIRVAC – up 0.5 cents, or 0.29 per cent, at $1.755

Property group Mirvac still expects to grow its earnings per share by between eight and 10 per cent this fiscal year.

SYD – SYDNEY AIRPORT – up 2.0 cents, or 0.47 per cent, at $4.24

Anne Sherry is now a Sydney Airport board member, subject to confirmation at the company’s annual general meeting.
