Stocks to watch on the Australian stock exchange on Friday, Nov 21:

BHP – BHP BILLITON – down 87 cents, or 2.7 per cent, at $31.80

FMG – FORTESCUE METALS – down 10 cents, or 3.7 per cent, at $2.64

RIO – RIO TINTO – down $1.57, or 2.7 per cent, at $56.41

The price of iron ore has slumped even further, hitting a fresh low of $US70.20.

FXJ – FAIRFAX – down 1.5 cents, or 1.9 per cent, at 77 cents

Fairfax boss Greg Hywood has declared the media group is in good shape as it continues to focus on expanding its digital business.

NEC – NINE ENTERTAINMENT – down two cents, or one per cent, at $2.04

Media group Nine Entertainment Co has rejected speculation that it is considering selling its Ticketek and Allphones businesses.

PMP – PMP – down two cents, or 4.3 per cent, at 45 cents

Magazine print volumes are up but demand for catalogues is down slightly due to soft retail conditions, printing business PMP says.

QFX – QUICKFLIX – down 0.2 cents, or 40 per cent, at 0.3 cents

Quickflix wants to raise almost $6 million to help it secure new TV and movie content ahead of the arrival of US giant Netflix in Australia.

SFL – SPECIALTY FASHION -up 2.5 cents, or 3.1 per cent, at 82 cents

Clothing retailer Specialty Fashion’s sales rose 4.6 per cent in the September quarter but its Rivers brand continues to drag on its performance.

SHL – SONIC HEALTHCARE – down $1.22, or 6.6 per cent, at $17.18

Investors have dumped shares in Sonic Healthcare as the international pathology, imaging and medical centres operator cut its forecast for its underlying earnings this financial year.
