Stocks to watch on the Australian stock exchange at close on Thursday:

ALZ – AUSTRALAND – up four cents, or 0.9 per cent, at $4.48

Singapore’s Frasers Centrepoint is struggling to get shareholders of Australand Property Group on side, with just hours to go until its takeover offer expires.

ENV – ENVESTRA – up 3.5 cents, or 2.73 per cent, at $1.315

APA – APA Group – down three cents, or 0.41 per cent, at $7.36

Envestra looks set to be swallowed by a major Hong Kong developer after the Australian gas distributor’s biggest shareholder backed a $2.4 billion takeover deal.

FXL – FLEXIGROUP – up 8.00 cents, or 2.12 per cent, at $3.85

Financial services company FlexiGroup has earmarked a period of slower profit growth as it consolidates after a busy year of mergers and acquisitions.

RIO – RIO TINTO – up 50 cents, or 0.76 per cent, at $66.32

Rio Tinto has more than doubled its half year net profit to $US4.4 billion ($A4.76 billion. The diversified miner posted its results after the close of trade.

TAH – TABCORP – up 11 cents, or 3.19 per cent, at $3.56

Gaming group Tabcorp has lifted its full year profit three per cent, despite a slide in revenue.
