Stocks to watch on the Australian stock exchange on Thursday, June 14:

CPU – COMPUTERSHARE LTD – up 18 cents at $7.82

Europe’s financial woes have caused share registry group Computershare to take a charge of up to $US65 million ($A66.17 million) in its business in the region.

EGP – ECHO ENTERTAINMENT GROUP LTD – in a trading halt, last traded at $4.49

CWN – CROWN LTD – up 18 cents at $8.49

Investment firm Macquarie Group has bought a five per cent stake in casinos operator Echo Entertainment Group.

FMG – FORTESCUE METALS GROUP LTD – up 13 cents at $4.68

Iron ore miner Fortescue Metals Group has merged some of its lower grade assets with Chinese state-owned steel giant Baosteel.

SDL – SUNDANCE RESOURCES LTD – down 3.5 cents at 34 cents

Sundance Resources has raised $40 million in a placement to continue developing its Mbalam iron ore project in Africa.

SEK – SEEK LTD – down 16 cents at $6.50

Jobs website Seek has abandoned plans to raise $125 million to repay debt and fund investment.

WHC – WHITEHAVEN COAL LTD – up 18 cents at $4.18

Billionaire Nathan Tinkler’s skills as a dealmaker are expected to be tested after he launched a takeover of Whitehaven Coal.
