Stocks to watch on the Australian stock exchange on Thursday, October 4:

ANZ – ANZ BANKING GROUP – up six cents at $25.05

CBA – COMMONWEALTH BANK – up down four cents at $56.00

NAB – NATIONAL AUSTRALIA BANK – up 14 cents at $25.95

WBC – WESTPAC BANKING CORP – steady at $25.16

Borrowers are waiting to see if the larger banks will pass on the Reserve Bank of Australia’s quarter of a percentage point interest cut, announced on Tuesday.

APN – APN NEWS & MEDIA LTD – down 1.5 cents, or 3.49 per cent, at 41.5 cents

APN News & Media has confirmed it is still reviewing its New Zealand print assets after speculation of a buyer being found fuelled a surge in its share price.

BLY – BOART LONGYEAR LTD – up 1.5 cents, or 0.9 per cent, at $1.675

The chief executive of mining services and equipment company Boart Longyear Craig Kipp has terminated his tenure as chief executive, effective immediately, the company said in a surprise announcement on Wednesday.

FXJ – FAIRFAX MEDIA LTD – down 0.5 cents, or 1.23 per cent 40 cents

Fairfax share have fallen to their lowest levels in at least 50 years after the release of its annual report.
