Stocks to watch on the Australian stock exchange early on Thursday:

CSR – CSR LTD – up five cents at $2.41

CSR conceded its takeover of Viridian may have been a dud after the struggling glass division dragged down first half earnings at the building products maker.

DOW – DOWNER EDI LTD – up 27 cents at $3.42

Train manufacturer and engineering firm Downer EDI has confirmed that full year net profit will recover to $180 million from the previous year’s net loss.

MYR – MYER HOLDINGS LTD – up 15 cents at $2.48

Myer is closing stores and reducing floor space as it strives to generate as much as 10 per cent of its sales revenue online.

SGT – SINGAPORE TELECOMMUNICATIONS LTD – closed at $2.40 on Wednesday.

In equities news, SingTel Group, which includes Optus, releases its second quarter financial results.

SPN – SP AUSNET – up one cent at 99 cents

Electricity and gas transmission network owner SP AusNet’s first half profit has fallen by 12 per cent, but the company expects to maintain its full year dividend level.

SVW – SEVEN GROUP HOLDINGS LTD – up 20 cents at $7.78

Seven Group says the current uncertainty in global markets may prompt the media and earthmoving equipment company to consider further impairment charges on its investments.
