Stocks to watch on the Australian stock exchange early on Monday, July 23:

AIO – ASCIANO – down two cents, or 0.46 per cent, at $4.37

ARI – ARRIUM LTD – down 4.5 cents cents, or 4.89 per cent, at 87.5 cents

BSL – BLUESCOPE STEEL LTD – flat at 28.5 cents

Asciano has struck a fresh deal with Bluescope Steel and Arrium to continue providing them with rail linehaul services across Australia.

HDF – HASTINGS DIVERSIFIED UTILITIES FUND – up 13 cents, or 5.53 per cent, at $2.48

APA – APA GROUP – down 12 cents or 2.36 per cent at $4.96

AFI – AUSTRALIAN FOUNDATION INVESTMENT COMPANY LTD – flat at $4.32

APA Group is expected to make a fresh bid for energy infrastructure investor Hastings Diversified Utilities Fund (HDF), despite the takeover target rejecting its advances.

GRR – GRANGE RESOURCES LTD – down 1.5 cents, or 3.19 per cent, at 45.5 cents

Iron ore miner Grange Resources has appointed Richard Mehan as CEO and managing director.

SYD – SYDNEY AIRPORT – up seven cents, or 2.33 per cent, at $3.08

Sydney Airport has recorded its best June on record for international and domestic passenger numbers as Singaporeans and Malaysians took advantage of cheap airfares.

TEN – TEN NETWORK HOLDINGS LTD – up one cent, or 1.98 per cent, at 51.5 cents

Broadcaster Ten Network Holdings has agreed to sell its outdoor advertising business, Eye Corp, to Outdoor Media Operations (OMO) for up to $145 million.

TWE – TREASURY WINE ESTATES LTD – down five cents, or 1.09 per cent, at $4.54

Wine maker Treasury Wine Estates (TWE) has appointed non-executive director Paul Rayner as chairman and made three other board appointments.

WBC – WESTPAC BANKING CORPORATION – down 10 cents, or 0.44 per cent, at $22.85

Westpac’s acting financial services boss Peter Hanlon is to take on a new advisory role with the bank when he steps down from his current job.
