Stocks to watch on the Australian stock exchange on Wednesday, July 10:

AWC – ALUMINA – up 3.0 cents, or 3.0 per cent, at $1.03

Shares in Australia’s Alumina have posted strong gains despite its giant aluminium producing partner Alcoa posting a large quarterly loss.

GMG – GOODMAN GROUP – up 3.0 cents at $4.86

Industrial real estate investment trust Goodman Group has raised $775 million of new equity through its European operations.

NST – NORTHERN STAR – up 1.5 cents, or 2.5 per cent, at 61.5 cents

Gold miner Northern Star will shelve its Ashburton project in Western Australia and embark on another round of cost cutting due to lower gold prices.

RMS – RAMELIUS RESOURCES – up 2.5 cents, or 24 per cent, at 13 cents

Ramelius shares have soared after the gold miner posted a record June quarter production result.

TLS – TELSTRA – down 3.0 cents at $4.76

Telstra plans to send 170 jobs from one of its fastest-growing divisions to India.

YAL – YANCOAL AUSTRALIA – up 3.0 cents, or 4.3 per cent, at 73 cents

Chinese giant Yanzhou Coal Mining’s plans to take full control of its Australian offshoot Yancoal could face a potential roadblock from the Foreign Investment Review Board.
