Stocks to watch on the Australian stock exchange at the close on Monday:

BHP – BHP BILLITON LTD – down 83 cents, or 2.1 per cent, at $39.04

The Queensland government will require miner BMA to have 80 per cent of its employees across all operations live in the region where they work.

ELD – ELDERS LTD – up 3.5 cents, or 11.5 per cent, at 34 cents

Elders says it has simplified its debt facilities by reducing to five the number of parties in the new syndicate.

EXM – EXCALIBUR MINING – steady at 0.2 cents

Gold exploration minnow Excalibur Mining has unveiled a new direction and capital structure, including a planned dual listing on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX).

EXT – EXTRACT RESOURCES – down 15 cents, or 1.9 per cent, at $7.88

Uranium explorer Extract Resources says it is advancing financing talks for its $US1.66 billion Husab uranium project in Namibia, which is set to be the world’s third-largest uranium-only mine.

LLC – LEND LEASE GROUP – down 11 cents, or 1.3 per cent, at $8.31

Lend Lease announces the consortium of which it is part is the preferred tenderer to build a Darwin prison

PLV – PLUTON RESOURCES LTD – up three cents, or 10.9 per cent, at 30.5 cents

Shares in Pluton Resources jumped after the junior minerals explorer signed a deal to acquire Cockatoo Island iron ore assets in Western Australia’s Kimberley region.

QAN – QANTAS AIRWAYS LTD – up 3.5 cents, or 2.2 per cent, at $1.63

Qantas Airways has reported improving yields – or average fares per passenger – across the airline group for July.
