Explosives and fertiliser maker Incitec Pivot says it will take a $23 million hit as a result of the temporary closure of a Queensland ammonia plant.

Incitec Pivot says its ammonia plant at Phosphate Hill, in northwest Queensland, went offline in early July due to issues with its iso-thermal shift reactor.

The plant is expected to ramp up production from next week.

In a statement to the Australian Securities Exchange on Tuesday, Incitec Pivot said the outage would deliver a hit of around $23.5 million, after tax, to the company’s earnings this year.

Incitec Pivot is Australia’s largest fertiliser business.
