Myer boss gets pay rise, despite fall in profit

Myer boss Bernie Brookes received a 4.4 per cent pay rise in 2012 while the retailer’s profits fell.

Myer’s annual report, released on Friday, reported that Mr Brookes’ pay, not including long-term benefits, for fiscal 2012 was $1.916 million, up 4.4 per cent from the previous year.

Myer’s profit for the year to 28 July fell 12.7 per cent to $139.4 million but sales were down 1.3 per cent.

Mr Brookes’ contract with Myer will expire on August 31, 2014.
