Fertiliser and explosives maker Incitec Pivot will split its global operations in two from October.

The president of its global manufacturing, Bernard Walsh, is stepping down and leaving the company as part of the changes.

Incitec Pivot operates more than 15 major chemical plants across Australia, the Americas and Europe.

A strategic and technical division will now handle engineering and project management, while an operational division will oversee the day-to-day operation of plants.

Alan Grace, who has recently overseen the construction of the company’s ammonium project in Louisiana in the US, will be in charge of both divisions from October 1.

Incitec shares were down one cent at $2.67 at 1221 AEST.
