Credit Union Australia (CUA) has appointed BankWest senior manager Tony Taylor as its new chief financial officer (CFO).

Mr Taylor brings a wealth of experience in retail financial services in Australia and Asia, and begins on October 10, CUA said.

“He joins CUA from BankWest, where he has held a number of roles, including CFO of its retail division,” CUA, Australia’s largest customer-owned financial institution, said in a statement on Wednesday.

“During that period,Mr Taylor has been responsible for significantly enhancing financial management and forecasting processes, including the development of financial insights to the business.”

Prior to BankWest, Mr Taylor was CFO at Bank South Pacific, the largest retail financial institution in Papua New Guinea, where he oversaw the privatisation of the institution from public ownership and a major merger, CUA said.

CUA chief executive Chris Whitehead said Mr Taylor’s broad industry experience, insights and proven track record in delivering effective forecasting processes would be invaluable to CUA as it continued to progress its growth strategy.
