Mark Bouris’ TZ Limited has struck a deal to install lockers in petrol stations and convenience stores in a bid to capitalise on the online retailing boom.

TZ has entered into agreements to install lockers at more than 130 venues throughout Australia in a move that will allow people to pick up parcels after work rather than wait at home for a delivery.

Online shoppers have expressed frustration at missing Australia Post or courier deliveries and being unable to collect parcels during business hours.

TZ’s 12-month agreements include the supply of lockers to AA Holdings, which owns and operates more than 50 BP petrol stations in Victoria, and Australian Fuel Distributors (AusFuel), which has more than 80 Gull petrol stations across Western Australia, South Australia, Queensland and the Northern Territory.

“The company has a target of taking a significant share of the available parcel locker market by the end of the year with a goal of building and owning a viable community locker network alternative for consumers,” TZ said in a statement.

Under the agreements, trials of the A.D.A.M. locker systems will be undertaken at six locations from May this year.

Trials will take place at two sites in Sydney, two in Melbourne, one in Brisbane and one in Perth.

TZ said it aimed to quickly install lockers at secure, accessible sites that provide consumers with convenience and flexibility to collect parcels.

The company said the lockers would cater for the needs of online retailers, couriers, digital media providers and consumers.

TZ shares were flat at 16 cents at 1605 AEDT.
