Aust shares close lower

The share market has fallen for a fifth consecutive session but closed well above the early lows caused by further falls in oil prices.

At the close on Monday, the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was down 33.5 points, or 0.64 per cent, at 5,186.1, while the broader All Ordinaries index was down 32.3 points, or 0.62 per cent, at 5,164.6, according to preliminary figures.

On the ASX 24, the December share price index futures contract was 38 points lower at 5,179, with 80,011 contracts traded.
