Aust shares close lower

The share market has closed lower for a fourth straight session as the latest data from China showed a drop in imports from its major trading partners, including Australia.

At the close on Monday, the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was down 21.7 points, or 0.39 per cent, at 5,577, while the broader All Ordinaries index was down 20 points, or 0.36 per cent, at 5,578.9, according to preliminary figures.

On the ASX 24, the September share price index futures contract was 22 points lower at 5,572, with 25,028 contracts traded.
