Aussie shares close lower

The Australian share market has closed lower, with the big miners and energy companies bearing the brunt of fresh commodity price falls.

At the close on Thursday, the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was 28.0 points, or 0.53 per cent, lower at 5,231.0, while the broader All Ordinaries index was down 29.7 points, or 0.57 per cent, at 5,207.4, according to preliminary figures.

On the ASX 24, the December share price index futures contract was 22 points lower at 5,228, with 27,847 contracts traded.
