Aussie shares close higher

The Australian share market has closed moderately higher, starting the session strongly, but falling as shares on the Chinese market tumbled.

At the close on Monday, the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was 9.9 points, or 0.19 per cent, higher at 5,309.1, while the broader All Ordinaries index was up 10.2 points, or 0.19 per cent, at 5,289.0, according to preliminary figures.

On the ASX 24, the March share price index futures contract was 27 points higher at 5,259, with 28,085 contracts traded.
