The competition watchdog has given its approval of packaging maker Amcor’s $238 million acquisition of Aperio Group.

Aperio Group has 13 manufacturing facilities in Australia and New Zealand, and one plant in Thailand, which will add to Amcor’s 21 manufacturing plants in its Asia Pacific flexible packaging business.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) on Wednesday said the deal would not result in a substantial lessening of competition in any market.

Amcor expects its expanded flexible packaging business in the Asia Pacific region to generate a turnover of about $1.2 billion.
