Lynas is the largest producer of rare earths outside of China, which is still responsible for around 70% of global supply.
“Current civil unrest in Myanmar sees rare earth supply under the spotlight. Myanmar was responsible for around 50% of China’s heavy rare earth concentrate in 2020. Prices have been rising strongly in 2021,” Julia said.
“Lynas is due to report 1st quarter 2021 results tomorrow (20 April) and we expect a positive report.
“In addition, we expect Coca Cola Amatil (CCL) to be replaced in the ASX 100 index by LYC, which should provide additional short-term support to its share price,” she added.
