With the number of people working from home, Covid-19 has accelerated the move to cloud and data consumption. While the Australian data centre operator NextDC is a beneficiary of that move in the area of data centres, so is Megaport. Founded in Australia in 2013, Megaport is a platform that provides a way to create and manage network connections.
“Megaport is a capital light model compared to NextDC,” says Julia.
“Rather than owning data centres, it allows connectivity to more than 300 data centres.
“Companies like to use Megaport because it means that they don’t have to set up expensive and time-consuming hardware. Instead, they can access data when they need and as much as they need. It works on a pay-for-what-you-use model.
“Megaport grew revenue by 66% in FY20 and that momentum should continue this financial year as the world becomes ever more data hungry,” Julia concludes.
