Retirement and Conditions of Release

Further to Gary Chau’s article on APRA guidance on retirement, I am aged 54 (preservation age 59) and am now officially retired from paid employment (living off investments outside super).

When I reach my preservation age in 5 years time, will I meet the Limb 1 retirement condition of release, or do I need to find another job at the time and then “retire” again to meet the condition?

Might be a silly question, however there seems to be no time limit specified between someone formally ceasing work and accessing super.

Centuria Industrial Share Purchase Plan

I have received a shareholder offer for up to $15000 units in Centuria Industrial (CIP) at a price of $2.45. This offer closes Wednesday 9 August. Currently the price is $2.45, so the offer you are saving on brokerage and the forecast yield is 8.4% paid quarterly.

I bought them as TIX @average $2.00

Are they still a buy at this price?

SWTZ Dividend Dates

When are the ex dividend dates for SWTZ? The last date I had was 14th July, but on Commsec it is showing that today (7th July) they are trading ex-dividend.

Telstra

Last year I bought TLS shares following a good recommendation from Charlie Aitken. I initially paid near $6.00 per share. As you would know the bottom fell out of TLS share price with news of a new carrier.

I took the opportunity to buy more and have been able to average down the cost to $5.00 per share. I am still losing around 13% on my holdings of $280,000, which I know is too much for my portfolio. I would, however, prefer to keep them until such a time when and if they reach the upwards of $5.00 per share.

Any thoughts?

La Trobe

I was reading your article ‘The best rate on cash and term deposits’.

What are your thoughts on La Trobe offering 5.2% on 12 months term account? La Trobe is recommended by Lonsec and wanted to know if this is a safe investment.

Thank you
