Franking Credits

Franking credits: There is a window of purchase as to when you purchase shares to be entitled to franking credits.
I understand that this applies to franking credit payments of over $5000 and that is the total ranking credits of all shares you own, not individual. The query is the holding period. Stated is 47 days holding those shares that you want to receive franking credits.

Maybe I am being rather pedantic, but I cannot find dates associated with the 47 days.
Does it mean from purchase date to ex dividend date, or to pay date of dividend, or to announcement of dividend?

Difference between Platinum Asia Fund and Platinum International fund

Hi

I enjoyed your recent conference and also Charlie Aitkens recent article on opportunities in Asia.

What do you see as the best way a small investor to access this opportunity ? If an ETF, can you run through some of the key ones for Asia ? And can you explain the difference between Platinum Asia which gives a healthy div, and the Platinum Asia Fund and Platinum International Fund which are listed, but don’t have a div reported on the ASX web site.

ETFs

Firstly, many thanks for your conference yesterday in Sydney, as you said about someone else, nearly didn’t go , so glad I did.

I live in the hunter valley so was a big day , would you mind explaining a little about efts? I notice they’re not cheap to invest in , do they pay a dividend or are they simply hopefully a gain in value stock?

Sorry for my lack of knowledge.

Many thanks.
