Stocks to watch on the Australian stock exchange at close on Monday:

JHX – JAMES HARDIE INDUSTRIES – down 16 cents, or 1.4 per cent, at $11.28

James Hardie has been dragged back into the New Zealand government’s class action over leaky school buildings with a cross-claim filed against the company by another unnamed defendant.

OBS – ORBIS GOLD – in a trading halt, last traded at 42 cents

Fancied explorer Orbis Gold has rejected a $162 million cash bid by fellow West Africa player Semafo.

QAN – QANTAS AIRWAYS – down five cents, or 3.7 per cent, at $1.30

Foreign ownership of Qantas is close to its government-imposed limit, with nearly 48 per cent of the airline now held by overseas investors.

SGP – STOCKLAND – down four cents, or one per cent, at $3.90

Property group Stockland has paid almost $60 million for a regional Queensland shopping centre.

WDS – WDS – down 55.5 cents, or 68.5 per cent, at 25.5 cents

Mining services contractor WDS is replacing its chief executive after a drastic downgrade of its earnings forecast.
