The Australian market looks set to open lower after weak US employment figures late last week.

At 0649 AEST on Friday, the June share price index futures contract was five points lower at 4,890, with 5,092 contracts traded.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 40.86 points lower at 14,565.25 on Friday (US time).

The broad-based S&P 500 ended 6.7 points weaker at 1,553.28, while the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index was down 21.12 points at 3,203.86 at the close of trade in New York.

In economic news on Monday, the ANZ releases its job advertisements figures for March and the Housing Industry Association and Australian Industry Group will release their index on construction activity for March.

At the close on Friday, the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index fell 22.1 points to 4,891.4.

The broader All Ordinaries index lost 20.1 points, at 4,899.2.
