Stocks to watch on Monday

Stocks to watch on the Australian stock exchange on Monday, Sept 29:

ASL – AUSDRILL – down 0.5 cents, or 0.53 per cent, at 93.5 cents

Charges against the boss of mining contractor Ausdrill have been dropped.

BHP – BHP BILLITON – down 63.0 cents, or 1.81 per cent, at $34.16

Resources giant BHP Billiton has teamed up with Mexican oil company Pemex in a bid to develop the country’s deepwater petroleum reserves.

ELD – ELDERS – down one cent, or 5.26 per cent, at 18 cents

Elders has completed the sale of its 50 per cent interest in AWH (formerly Australian Wool Handlers). Proceeds from the transaction were $32.3 million.

IAG – INSURANCE AUSTRALIA GROUP – down six cents, or 0.96 per cent, at $6.20

Insurance Australia Group may close all but one of its 22 State branches in New Zealand in a bid to consolidate its national direct insurance network as more customers phone or turn online for assistance.

SYD – SYDNEY AIRPORT – down five cents, or 1.17 per cent, at $4.22

Sydney Airport boss Kerrie Mather wants to see restrictions eased on the number of flights that can take off and land at the airport.
