ANN – ANSELL LTD – down three cents at $13.87

Ansell is due to hold its annual general meeting.

ANZ – ANZ BANKING GROUP LTD – down 11 cents at $20.99

ANZ has appointed Alistair Currie as its new chief operating officer following the departure of David Cartwright.

FXJ – FAIRFAX MEDIA LTD – down 2.5 cents at 91 cents

Fairfax Media metro digital publisher Jane Huxley says social networking has driven the rise in the number of women going online.

IBG – IRONBARK ZINC LTD – down 0.5 cents at 29.5 cents

Greenland-focused Australian explorer Ironbark Zinc has secured $US50 million ($A49.2 million) in financing from Swiss giant and major shareholder Glencore.

QAN – QANTAS AIRWAYS LTD – down 0.5 cents at $1.56

Qantas says the plight of the beleaguered airline is “getting worse, not better”, as engineers prepare to walk off the job on Friday afternoon.

SPT – SPOTLESS GROUP LTD – up six cents at $2.04

Cleaners at Melbourne’s Qantas domestic terminal are continuing to protest against Spotless’s refusal to pay them the same as cleaners working for ISS in the Virgin and international terminals.

VBA – VIRGIN BLUE HOLDINGS LTD – up two cents at 34.5 cents

Virgin Australia’s boss has rejected claims that Qantas long-haul pilots earn 50 per cent more than Virgin’s.
