John Alexander, a key ally of Crown casino group chairman James Packer, has had his employment contract extended for an indefinite period.
His new contract also includes a clause banning him from working for another organisation for 12 months after leaving Crown.
Mr Alexander’s tenure as executive deputy chairman was meant to have expired on November 30, 2012.
But Crown on Monday announced his employment agreement had been varied to an “indefinite term”.
The changes remove an annual consumer price index- (CPI) linked pay rise and include a clause whereby he must not work for anyone else for 12 months after leaving the company.
Mr Alexander, a former Sydney Morning Herald editor, was appointed to the board of Seven West Media this year.
Previously, he was chief executive of the Packer family’s old ACP magazines and Publishing and Broadcasting Limited media divisions, which included the Nine Network.
The remaining terms and conditions of his employment agreement with Crown will apply.
Crown Limited had added five cents by $15.73 at 1313 AEST.
